The Reception day runs from 8:20am to 3:50pm with care available after school time until 6pm.
Healthy lunch
Pupils can bring in a small, healthy snack for morning break. Lunch served in the school dining hall between 12:00 – 12:50 and is an opportunity to socialise with pupils and teachers eating together.
Many children will take part in a lunchtime club on one or more days, giving them a chance to sing, dance, play an instrument or learn a new skill.
Learning
The Early Years Foundation Curriculum focuses on seven areas of learning to underpin future development including physical development, communication, literacy, mathematics, arts and design, personal, social and emotional development and helping children to understand the world.
The first year of school is the most crucial to future attainment. It’s for this reason we provide significant resources to ensure our pupils get the very best out of their start to school. With a teacher and an EYFS teaching assistant and an average class size of 18, pupils have the opportunity to be nurtured, supported and challenged with a pupil-teacher ratio of 1-9. This allows us to support all pupils to flourish in their reading, writing, numeracy and wider development.
Extension & Enrichment (ExEn) – afterschool sessions
An exciting range of after school clubs, from disco dancing, sewing, literacy club and games are offered from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Aftercare is then provided until 6pm each day (additional charges apply), where children can play and relax (tea is provided) with supervision from staff.
