Sport is an integral part of life throughout our Senior School, with pupils encouraged to pursue a variety of individual and team games.
Pupils are given the chance to get involved with a range of sports while also having the chance to partake in competitive sport through fixtures, house competitions and the annual school Sports Day.
Facilities
We continue to use the excellent facilities at the University of Warwick, Leamington Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, The Warwickshire, Leamington Cricket Club and Newbold Comyn to provide children with access to top class equipment.
This includes AstroTurf, 3G pitches, a full-size athletics track, climbing wall and a 25-metre swimming pool.
Competitions
The main team games are football, cricket, hockey, netball and rounders. Teams are also entered into competitions in swimming, tennis, athletics, table tennis, cross-country running and football.
- In Years 7 and 8, pupils have four hours of PE and games sessions, and continue to enjoy an enriched curriculum encompassing team sports, individual sports and skills sessions.
- In Year 9, pupils have one afternoon of games per week and compete in hockey, cricket, netball, rounders, tennis and athletics. There is also a weekly two-hour enrichment session where they have the opportunity to choose other physical activities.
- In years 10 and 11, pupils have one afternoon of games per week and are able to choose the activities they wish to take part in.
They may opt for a team sport (hockey, cricket, rounders) or racket sport (badminton, squash or tennis), or follow an outdoor education course that includes rock climbing, canoeing, sailing and campcraft.
The option to take PE as a GCSE course gives pupils access to further teaching and experience in a variety of physical activities.
Pupils also have the opportunity to try sports and activities including fencing, golf, orienteering, climbing and kayaking.
